Stevie Wishart

Stevie Wishart is a composer with diverse roots in improvisation, early music and electronic music. A performer on the violin, and the hurdy-gurdy (a stringed keyboard instrument bowed with a wheel), she has a distinctive style which combines a strong classical foundation with an experimental approach, making her an extremely engaging and versatile contemporary musician.

Stevie has an increasing interest in ecology and the natural world, using both birdsong and electronics to broaden her creative scope. She is currently publishing the music scores for her choral music, working with French group Ensemble Variances and records for Decca (Universal), Hyperion and Rubicon records.
